Live on YouTube

Some use YouTube to grass up Premier League footballers, others to post videos of themselves performing questionable cover versions of the last smash in the hit parade whilst some use it to ‘vlog’ about the monotonous aspects of their tedious existence.

However, away from the wierdos it can be an excellent resource for live performances from bands over the years. Not the grainy footage from the camera phones that are ubiquitous at every gig now but from the archives of television stations at home and abroad, here’s a few favourite live clips on youtube.

Gang of Four – To Hell With Poverty (Old Grey Whistle Test)

Lightnin’ Hopkins – Baby Please Don’t Go

Joy Division – Transmission (Live at the BBC 1979)

The Four Tops – Standing In The Shadows of Love (Belgium 1967)

Bob Marley – Satisfy My Soul (Arte 1978)

Echo & The Bunnymen – Do It Clean (Rockpalast 1983)

The Libertines – Up The Bracket (Live At The Astoria)

Blur – To The End (Hyde Park 2009)

The Specials – Gangsters (Rock Goes To College Colchester 1979)

Nirvana – About A Girl (Unplugged in New York 1993)
